Handwoven from upcycled fabric made of waste plastic and in some cases cassette tapes, Aarohana’s Lunch Bags put to use at least 20-25 discarded plastic bags. They have a cotton fabric strap and a magnetic button to close the bag from the top. The Lunch Bag can hold a2-3 kgs of weight – which means one standard size lunch box and a bottle of water. They’re available in Glitter and Non-Glitter.
Upcycled plastic, natural fabric and magnetic buttons
What we love most about Aarohana Beach Bags is that apart from being a functional and attractive product, it is handmade from multi-layered plastic waste that is rejected by most recycle organizations due to its composition. Every bag ensures that 25-30 plastic bags stay out of the landfills and our seas!
About the brand
Aarohana EcoSocial Developments is a social enterprise that works towards sustainable development while also creating livelihoods. They upcycle plastic waste to make fabric with the help of a traditional charkha and handloom, which is later used to make bags, home décor and stationary products. Unlike most other upcycling organisations, they also work with multi-layered plastics, which are very difficult to repurpose. They also accept plastic waste (bags and food packaging only, no hard plastic or milk packets) if shipped directly to their office in Pune.
