Students’ Sea Turtle Conservation Network is a voluntary group, mainly comprising of students who focus on the protection and conservation of the endangered Olive Ridley species. They set out to walk the beaches every night from January to April looking for turtle eggs which they collect and relocate to a safe space. When the turtle hatchlings emerge 45 days later, they are released into the sea.

Walks are conducted every night, covering a 7km stretch from Neelangarai Beach to Besant Nagar beach while also spreading awareness about endangered species and the state of the environment.

इसके पीछे कौन है?
स्टूडेंट्स सी टर्टल कंज़र्वेशन नेटवर्क (एस.एस.टी.सी.एन.) की शुरुआत 1988 में हुई थी। इसे टीटो चैनडी और आरिफ़ रज़ाक ने शुरू किया और इनके साथ जल्द ही थरानी सेल्वम, कार्तिक शंकर, योहान थिरुचेलवम और तारा थियागराजन भी जुड़ गए। इनको सतीष भास्कर, भारत के अग्रणी सी टर्टल बायोलॉजिस्ट, ने 1988 से 1991 तक मेंटर भी किया। मद्रास क्रोकोडाइल बैंक के रोम्यूलस व्हिटेकर और हैरी एंड्रूज़ ने भी इस संस्था को बहुत सपोर्ट किया है।
